American Education Week Extravaganza!
Alpha Kappa Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. continued its participation in a public AEW program on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the South Early College High School in Houston, Texas. The audience was filled with FIL members, parents, students and community members. Over 80 people were in attendance and 16 sorors were present. The room was decorated with patriotic colors of red, white and blue, A green and white sorority table with a mannequin in a green dress represented Iota Phi Lambda Sorority. Alpha Kappa highlighted the importance of bringing educators, parents, students, and communities together in a unified effort to build technology in today schools in five phases: Youth Investments, Legacy Educators, Essay Contest, Technology Importance and Community Service. Yes, a panel of South Early College High School finest participated in a panel discussion on the use of technology by our youth. It was fantastic and the panelists were knowledgeable and articulate! We had a tasty luncheon, community singing, and community giving! This was a wonderful program for our children and public and we thank the AEW Co-chairpersons Ethel Bell and Linda Taylor and their committee members for a job well done! excited about the work that’s been done thus far. Two Thanksgiving baskets were given to the public. Before Saturday, various sorors donated apples, water, and other paraphernalia to various campuses in the Houston area.
